Aquiles Figueroa holds a degree in Violin Performance from the University of Tulsa, where he studied violin with Maureen O'Boyle and Derry Deane. He is also a former student of the Meadowmount School of Music in New York, where he studied solo and chamber music with the distinguished Professors Paula Sokol-Elliott and Alan Bodman. While attending Meadowmount, Mr. Figueroa also received the opportunity to study with and attend the master classes of Charles Avsharian, Gerardo Ribeiro, and the legendary Ruggiero Ricci. He has performed in the master classes of Kevork Mardirrosian, Nicholas Dieugenio Cory Serovschek, Paula Sokol-Elliot, and Alan Bodman to name but a few.
During his undergraduate work, Mr. Figueroa performed with the University of Tulsa's String Quartet and toured regional public and arts magnet high schools. He served as Concert Master of the University Orchestra from 2001 to 2004, where he made his debut as a conductor in 2003 with the University of Tulsa Symphony. Later he went on to make conducting appearances in four concerts with the University Symphony before his graduation in 2004. Mr. Figueroa has served as faculty at the Barthelmes Conservatory as a violin teacher and Founder\Director of the Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, and is a member of the Barthelmes Duo, ensemble previously in residence at the Conservatory.
During his year of study at the University of Arkansas, he performed with the Fulbright Trio, faculty string ensemble at the University of Arkansas, renowned cellist Dennis Parker from Louisiana State university, and conducted a performance of the University Chamber Orchestra, in which he also sat concertmaster. Aquiles performed with The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Tulsa Ballet, and Fort Smith Symphony.
During Aquiles' time pursuing his masters at the University of Oklahoma he was first violinist of resident fellowship graduate quartet the Crouse String Quartet, Co-concert master of the University Symphony, and held a graduate teaching assistentship. His studies at OU involved work with many wonderful musicians including Evan Wilson, Yuval Waldman, Rossitza Goza, Rachel White, Ed Lonergan, Lu Nan, Angela Heck Mueller and Joseph Mueller to name but a few. To these artists and many more he is eternally grateful
